OMG ! I am so caught up in this drama. And yet you really do have to show this sort of thing, it is the transvestite's peril in our society. It is good that you show this and so well performed, this is a great social comment piece you are doing.
I don't intend to start a debate here, but nevertheless I'd like to respectfully voice the opposing opinion. Exactly what has caused the worst bloodsheds in history is debatable and depends on your interpretation of the data, as evidence is not univocal. It depends on how widely or narrowly we define "Religion" (is Confucianism or Scientism a religion?) and whether or not we differentiate "Justifications" from "Causes". For example, it is entirely possible that Religion could be used to justify a slaughter caused for purely secular reasons (such as a land grab). I hold the position that it is in fact Statism, which I regard as a religion, and it's myriad of denominations have in fact caused the worst bloodshed in history. In fact the more I looked into the interplay of Religion and State the more I was convinced Statism was more dangerous to religion than the other way around and it's not just supernaturalist ideologies which states can (and have) hijacked. Recall that Agrarian socialism, Castrismo, Fascismo Italiano, Khmer nationalism, Maoism, Stalinism & Trotskyism are all explicitly materialist state-philosophies that killed untold millions, some of which in manners that would horrify the most brutal of inquisitors. Even the american history of Eugenics, which was primarily secular, is a description of unjustifiable violations of human rights and dignity.
dame this comic whent darkquick it was cute and funny then sudden date rape. while i have loved the comic it just kinda cught me off guard with the whole sipping a miky and all. but still like the comic and wished it would cuntine.
I've been told that before. To be fair, it's a pretty serious issue and I had posted some serious comics previous (The arc dealing with the psychologist, Noah's troubles at schools, etc.), but it was certainly MUCH DARKER than any of the previous. In all honesty, I LIKE that interplay between comedy and tragedy. If you're familiar with Mahoromatic, I felt that was an EXCELLENT series in dealing with mortality and daily life in both comedy and crippling tragedy.
I agree and i wassn't saying i didn't like the sudden show of darkness i was just saying how it relly cught me out of the blue. I still loved every page of the comic even the darkest points. sorry if i gave you the wrong idea; being a crossdresser myself I am well aware how quickly you can end up in that very same situation.
GAH! This makes me think of some of the football players at my school. They picked on a gay friend of mine and I was so tempted to beat the living fisnicket out of them until they begged for mercy. Unfortunately I never got the change.
I'm glad I've lived a pretty charmed life and was spared any of that garbage. I hope that in the future, that sort of thing will become less and less popular. Though, maybe that's not possible, considering human nature and all.
^^ your sentiment and mine are the same. Mars's too, as I know you've seen.
Yes, I really had to agree with Mars on his sentiment.
And hopefully with enough understanding and people trying to take the time to sit down and understand other people things like that will die down. But unfortunately for now I know a lot of people that aren't willing at all to put forth that effort. It's a cryin shame, because the world could be a lot better if everyone just tried some understanding.
And now your comic has become the first medium ever to literally freeze me in place with fear. I am truly impressed. I'm not sure whether I'm more afraid of continuing or stopping, but I know which I'm going to do.
See you the next time you give me an emotional kick to the stomach (which doubtless will recur).
I just realized that you have a magical story and an imaginary story going on at the same time. That is so very Calvin and Hobbies of you. I wish Bill Watterson could see this himself.
Sure I want Ribbon to spoil their fun but then it would also spoil your dualality. You must have really thought this out for a long time to be able to pull this off so perfectly. All the while doing excellent drawings and keeping everyone is suspense.
I am doubly looking forward to the next episodes now. Have you thought how Ribbon will have to explain himself after Noah is alone with him?
Somehow, I get the feeling that Rex is not nearly as self-possessed as he seems to be. If he were, a guy who can convincingly dress up as a girl wouldn't bother him. I suspect that this is actually him acting to exorcise his own demons, and Noah just happens to be the target this time.
That being said, I think it's possible for Noah to save himself from either fate, so long as he realizes Rex's vulnerability in time. Like in Ender's Game, when Ender was trapped, naked, in a bathroom and was facing six-on-one odds in a "beating" that would almost certainly have been lethal for him. He managed to play on the ringleader's weaknesses, brought the odds down to as close to even as possible (one-on-one), and defended himself so fiercely and decisively against that one that the other boys were too intimidated to act. It also ended up in the other boy's death, but that's beside the point (if he hadn't, he would probably have died, so it was provable self-defense).
Thanks hon, but it still scares me. It's a personal thing, and this just kind of nicked the side of something I don't want to remember. And it's not *THAT*, just incase you were wondering. But still...
I've actually been worried about Noah/elle all day today. Is that odd?
