Here's a taste of the more full-fledged animation I'd like to mess around with. Only a taste though. ^_^ There's still so much to learn!

The turtle animation in the middle bit started out as a Paper Mario sprite that I altered to reflect the established art style.

I can't wait to get back to Samus!

Enjoy ^^

All Nintendo Characters (c) Nintendo

P.S. I wanted the closing bit of animation to be eerie. Hopefully that got across!

P.P.S. The turtle sprite in the first part, the first "Three panels" was made from scratch! What do you think? I'm super stoked about building more sprites for this project and others.

P.P.P.S. A quick shoutout to :icontamalesyatole: who suggested I change the window aspect ratio to accomodate screen sizes. Thanks yo! Hopefully 800x600 does the trick.

The plot thickens. Crossing the boundary messed things up or is he only now realizing that this was the way it always was?

He's clearly a Paper Mario type enemy character. But the rest are the standard platformer type. Huh?

Oh, wow. You're getting good at this.

I love the little Koopa running along the bottom of the screen in the first segment. I think it gives a good sense that time is passing while he checks up on everyone and it helps illustrate his urgency. The animated koopa scene works really well too. The changes in expressions seem natural enough and the 'spoken' dialogue looks to be coming in at a good speed. I particularly like the simple "He Must" panel. I feel it's implying a lot about the Koopa's mindset. Either he's trying to reassure himself that his king will indeed have the answers or he could be afraid of just what he'll find when he gets to Bowser.

I think you did a good job on this update. I look forward to seeing what you'll do next time.

The turtle sprite from the first part it's well done.
The collapsing Dry Bones was funny (maybe more because I did not expect it).
The Paper Mario style turtle, as ~TMason already said, looks weird because the face have sharp and thin pixels, and the arms and shell, on the other hand, are Anti-Aliased and a little thicker. The aliasing is noticeable too on the left arm when he says "There is only one thinkg to do".
The closing was indeed full of suspense. I thought "It's going to collapse again", but then the letterboxing happened and I thought "DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUNN". So, eerieness achieved!

And thus the Koopa starts to realize he's stuck in "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" territory here.

So far the only characters that have shown any agency outside of totally automated game routines are Samus, Bowser, and this particular red Koopa. Bowser's been the evil mastermind that you'd expect him to be, Samus has been the action heroine she usually is, albeit forced into a very different situation. And the Koopa is a bit of a mystery. Droll, resourceful, a bit cruel... not a disposable mook at all.

I'll admit, I came for the fetish. I stick around because this has gotten interesting.

Very well done. I never would've guessed the sprite was built from scratch, except that you said so.

The only constructive criticism i have is that the koopa sprite of him talking to the "camera" has a very sharp outline. But it's probably just because it's so blown-up.

side effect of the guard perhaps. gave authority and he gained autominity. perhaps his attempt to interact with samus is causing it.
like i said, her badassery is changing the world around her, cause it can barely contain her. not ot mention....... well outside of ai, there is a society of the space pirates. in mario, nothing has autominity.

Mmm, so watching the 'princess' has gotten our Koopa guard out of his automation, and now he's beginning to question things. What will become of him, and what will Bowzer do when confronted by a minion who can actually think and question?

And will Samus be able to free herself before he gets back?

Very intriguing; I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I think your animation skills are coming along very nicely. Not that your previous animations were bad, but I can definitely see a big improvement.

So, our guard has "taken the red pill", so to speak. Bowser may be able to find a better use for him than mere guard duty--hopefully a use that actually employs this newfound awareness rather than suppresses it.
