I'm really loving Takehito Harada's style, and I was inspired to work from it for this piece.   That said, I love giving MY characters a bit more curves (or bulk I guess... if I'm drawing guys) than he tends to.

Some new stylistic approaches I'm trying are squared off fingers, which I'm really enjoying.   It gives them a bit more form, and I can think of them 3 dimensionally better than the more conical approach I've been doing.   I limited my use of highlights to the Jewelry and Hair (and Cheeks!) to highlight the soft, thick material of the rest of the outfit.   I had tried highlights on the boots as well, but it came out distracting so I dropped them.   I also dropped the contrast on the shadows from what I normally do to make the piece softer in appearance, and more pleasant and comforting to look at.   Finally, like I'm finding I do most of the time, I put an overlay layer between my values and hues to harmonize the color scheme with a warm, orangey red.  It's pretty subtle but you can see it in the shadows.

Also, for those interested in my color approach:  I try to limit my pallet as much as possible while still retaining interest.  This creates a unified color scheme (or so I tell myself).   So you can see it, I use the same reddish grey on the peacoat, scarf, and boots.   I use a more bluish, lighter grey on the undershirt, the buttons, belt, scarf, and belt straps.   The gold is the same, except on the belt buckle and boot decorations:  which is just a desaturated version fo the same gold.  The brown of her hair is the brown of her eyes, and her purse a desaturated/ lighter version of her hair.   The grey headband is a brightened/ desaturated grey from the rest of it.  You get it.

To summarize, I'll pick a few colors and then augment them a little.   This piece is really only about three colors really, and they're all analogous (reds, yellows, and oranges) even if the majority of them are incredibly desaturated.

I could go on.   Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to ask.  ^_^  I'll try to get to them within this century!  ^_^;;;;;;
