Backstage or On with the Show

Backstage I'll talk about what I've learned about Manga and a lot of the shortcuts that you can see Manga artists using.   It can be a bit... disillusioning, if you're not up for it.   For example, a lot of backgrounds are just photos that have been put through filters etc etc.  It's kinda fun, once you start to pick up on it, trying to figure out what's what.

On with the Show is just what it sounds like.   ^_^;   I feel like I'm pressing my luck with all this development stuff, but who am I to say.   This is all one big experiment, and I look forward to hearing what you all are interested in.

Anyway, I really gotta go to bed.   See you in the am!

P.S.  Other tells that an artist is doing a trace-over of a computer render are the perfection and consistency of chairs.   Or an incredibly ornate setpiece, like Hato's desk with all its papers and scanners and software... if everything is perfectly in place even from multiple angles.   Another tell here is the cups on the table.... they're in exactly the right place.

I'm not saying that people CAN'T keep track of all this.   Maybe in Asia they just train artists better.   I'm just saying, for the pace at which most Manga artists need to work that level of detail is just too hard to afford, especially when using a program like Sketchup can do the job in a sliver of the time and effort.
